Ujjain is situated on the banks of Shipra River. It is a famous river flowing in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. This river originates from a place called Kakkar Badli in Ujjaini Mundla village of Indore. and about 196 kms. It joins the Chambal River after traveling to India. Ujjain is an ancient city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh as well as the fifth largest city here. In ancient times this city used to be the capital of the kingdom of the great emperor Vikramaditya. Ujjain is also known as the city of Kalidas. The climate here is temperate. Mahakaleshwar Temple, Mangalnath Temple, Bhartrihari Cave, Kshipra Ghat, Harsiddhi etc. are the main tourist places here. / उज्जैन क्षिप्रा नदी (Shipra River) के किनारे बसा है। यह भारत के मध्यप्रदेश राज्य में बहने वाली एक प्रसिद्ध नदी है।यह नदी इंदौर के उज्जैनी मुंडला गांव की ककड़ी बड़ली नामक स्थान से निकलती है। और करीब 196 कि.मी. की यात्रा करने के बाद चंबल नदी में मिल जाती है।उज्जैन भारत के मध्य प्रदेश राज्य का एक प्राचीन शहर (City) होने के साथ-साथ यहां का पांचवा सबसे बड़ा शहर है। प्राचीन समय में यह शहर महान सम्राट विक्रमादित्य के राज्य का राजधानी हुआ करती थी। उज्जैन को कालिदास की नगरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यहां की जलवायु समशीतोष्ण है। महाकालेश्वर मंदिर, मंगलनाथ मंदिर, भर्तृहरि गुफा, क्षिप्रा घाट, हरसिद्धि आदि यहां के मुख्य पर्यटन स्थल है।
