The Constitution (Ninety-second Amendment) Act, 2003, amended the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution so as to include Bodo, Dogri, Santhali and Maithali languages. It raised the total number of languages listed in the schedule to 22. The Eighth Schedule lists languages that the Government of India has the responsibility to develop. / संविधान (निन्यानवेवां संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2003 ने संविधान की आठवीं अनुसूची में संशोधन किया ताकि बोडो, डोगरी, संथाली और मैथली भाषाओं को शामिल किया जा सके। इसने अनुसूची में सूचीबद्ध भाषाओं की कुल संख्या को बढ़ाकर 22 कर दिया। आठवीं अनुसूची उन भाषाओं को सूचीबद्ध करती है जिन्हें विकसित करने की जिम्मेदारी भारत सरकार के पास है।
