Elephanta caves are located in Maharashtra. In other words we can say that it is located in Mumbai Harbour. The caves here are mainly related to Shaivism. It is in the form of, elephant that the famous trinity of Shiva is found which is called ‘Mahesh murthy. They were built by the Rashtrakuta rulers.

एलिफेंटा गुफाएँ महाराष्ट्र में स्थित हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में हम कह सकते हैं कि यह मुंबई हार्बर में स्थित है। यहां की गुफाएं मुख्यतः शैव धर्म से संबंधित हैं। हाथी के रूप में ही शिव की प्रसिद्ध त्रिमूर्ति पाई जाती है जिसे ‘महेश मूर्ति’ कहा जाता है। इनका निर्माण राष्ट्रकूट शासकों द्वारा करवाया गया था।
