The rupee had its one-half, one-fourth, one-eighth, one-sixteenth and one-twentieth pieces.अकबर के समय में टकसालों ने सोने, चांदी और तांबे के सिक्के जारी किए। अकबर के मुगल शासन के दौरान चांदी का सिक्का, जिसे रुपया के नाम से जाना जाता था, आकार में गोल था। अकबर के चाँदी के सिक्कों का वजन 172 ग्रेन था। अकबर ने चौकोर आकार के रुपए के सिक्के भी जारी किए, जिन्हें जलाली कहा जाता था। रुपये के आधे, एक-चौथाई, एक-आठवें, एक-सोलहवें और एक-बीसवें टुकड़े होते थे।
