The mansabdari system introduced by Akbar was a unique feature of the administrative system of the Mughal empire. The term mansab (i.e. office, position or rank) in the Mughal administration indicated the rank of its holder (mansabdar) in the official hierarchy. The mansabdari system was of central Asian origin. According to one view, Babur brought it to north India./अकबर द्वारा शुरू की गई मनसबदारी प्रणाली मुगल साम्राज्य की प्रशासनिक प्रणाली की एक अनूठी विशेषता थी। मुगल प्रशासन में मनसब (अर्थात कार्यालय, पद या रैंक) शब्द आधिकारिक पदानुक्रम में इसके धारक (मनसबदार) के पद को दर्शाता था। मनसबदारी प्रणाली मध्य एशियाई मूल की थी। एक मत के अनुसार बाबर इसे उत्तर भारत में लाया।
