According to the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993, under which the national and state human rights commissions are constituted, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairperson has to be a former Chief Justice of India (CJI). NHRC is a multi-member body consisting of a chairman and four members. / मानवाधिकार संरक्षण अधिनियम 1993 के अनुसार, जिसके तहत राष्ट्रीय और राज्य मानवाधिकार आयोगों का गठन किया जाता है, राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग (NHRC) के अध्यक्ष को भारत का पूर्व मुख्य न्यायाधीश (CJI) होना चाहिए। NHRC एक बहु-सदस्यीय निकाय है जिसमें एक अध्यक्ष और चार सदस्य होते हैं।
