Article 76 under the constitution of India provides for the office of the Attorney General for India who is the highest law officer in the country. As the chief law officer of the Government of India, the duties of the AG include the following:
1. To give advice to the Government of India upon such legal matters, which are referred to him by the president;
2. To perform such other duties of a legal character that are assigned to him by the president;
3. To discharge the functions conferred on him by the Constitution or any other law.

भारत के संविधान के तहत अनुच्छेद 76 भारत के लिए महान्यायवादी का पद प्रदान करता है जो देश में सर्वोच्च कानून अधिकारी है। भारत सरकार के मुख्य कानून अधिकारी के रूप में, एजी के कर्तव्यों में निम्नलिखित शामिल हैं:
