Density (ρ) = Mass (M)/Volume (V) Explanation: Since the density of ice is less than that of water, it floats on water. Mass (M) = × V Just as the density of ice is less than that of water, the volume (mass) of the same amount of ice will be greater than that of water. Once ice of the same mass as water melts and turns into water and the amount of that water in the form of ice will be less than that, the water level will come down.
घनत्व: प्रति इकाई आयतन द्रव्यमान घनत्व कहलाता है। इसे ρ द्वारा निरूपित किया जाता है। बर्फ का घनत्व पानी की तुलना में कम होता है। घनत्व (ρ) = द्रव्यमान (M)/आयतन (V) व्याख्या: चूंकि बर्फ का घनत्व पानी की तुलना में कम है, इसलिए वह पानी पर तैरता है। द्रव्यमान (M) = ρ × V जैसे बर्फ का घनत्व पानी से कम होता है, वैसे ही बर्फ की उसी मात्रा (द्रव्यमान) का आयतन पानी की तुलना में अधिक होगा। एक बार पानी के समान द्रव्यमान की बर्फ पिघल जाती है और पानी में परिवर्तित हो जाती है और बर्फ के रूप में उस पानी की मात्रा उससे कम हो जाएगी तो पानी का स्तर नीचे आ जाएगा।
