The Red Data Book deals with the information and statistics of endangered species. IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), the world's international organization for conservation of nature, has published a special type of red book by its subordinate Survival Service Commission Institute. Which is called Red Data Book. In which information about all types of creatures of the world and species of fauna and their reasons are also mentioned. The world's first Red Data Book was published on 1 January 1972. Since 1963, the International Union for Conservation of Nature issues the Red Data Book relating to endangered, often vulnerable and rare animals and plants. It is the apex organization to monitor the conservation status of various fauna and plant species globally. Species in the Red Data Book list are divided into nine classes on the basis of their decline in numbers and their location in a geographic area; E.g. Extinct (EX), Sensitivity (VU), Endangered (NT) etc. / रेड डाटा बुक लुप्तप्राय प्रजातियां की जानकारियों व उनके आंकड़ों से संबंधित है। दुनिया की प्राकृति संरक्षण की अंतराष्ट्रीय संस्था IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) ने अपने अधीनस्थ सरवाइवल सर्विस कमीशन संस्थान के द्वारा एक विशेष प्रकार की लाल किताब का प्रकाशन किया है। जिसे रेड डाटा बुक (Red Data Book) कहते है। जिसमे दुनिया के सभी प्रकार के जीवो की जानकारी और लुप्त हो रही जीवो की प्रजातियों तथा उनके कारणों का उल्लेख भी है। दुनिया की प्रथम रेड डेटा बुक 1 जनवरी 1972 को प्रकाशित हुई थी। वर्ष 1963 से प्राकृतिक संरक्षण के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संघ विलुप्त प्राय: असुरक्षित तथा दुर्लभ जीवों तथा पादपों से संबंधित रेड डाटा बुक जारी करता है। यह विश्व स्तर पर विभिन्न जीवों एवं पादप प्रजातियों की संरक्षण—स्थिति पर निगरानी रखने वाला सर्वोच्च संगठन है। रेड डाटा बुक की सूची में प्रजातियों को उनकी संख्या में गिरावट तथा भौगोलिक क्षेत्र में उनकी स्थिति के आधार पर कुल नौ वर्गों में वि​भक्त किया जाता है; जैसे— विलुप्त (EX), संवेदनशीलता (VU), संकटापन्न (NT) इत्यादि।
