Rice is the most important food crop of our country. Being suitable for hot climate, it is grown as a Kharif crop. Rice is cultivated in 23% of the total sown land in the country and 47% of the total area under food grains. / चावल हमारे देश की सबसे प्रमुख खाद्यान्न फसल है । गर्म जलवायु हेतु उपयुक्त होने के कारण इसे खरीफ की फसल के रूप में उगाया जाता है । देश में सकल बोई गई भूमि के 23% क्षेत्र में एवं खाद्यान्नों के अंतर्गत आने वाले कुल क्षेत्र में 47% भाग पर चावल की कृषि की जाती है ।
