Kushinagar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Kushinagar district in the Indian state of Uttar  Pradesh. It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Gautama Buddha is thought to have attained Parinirvana after his death. It is one of the most important four holy sites for Buddhists. At this location, near the Hiranyavati River, Gautama Buddha  attained Parinirvana (or ‘Final Nirvana’) after falling ill from eating a meal of a species of mushroom, or possibly pork. /कुशीनगर भारतीय राज्य उत्तर प्रदेश में कुशीनगर जिले का एक कस्बा और नगर पंचायत है। यह एक महत्वपूर्ण बौद्ध तीर्थ स्थल है, जहाँ माना जाता है कि गौतम बुद्ध ने अपनी मृत्यु के बाद परिनिर्वाण प्राप्त किया था। यह बौद्धों के लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण चार पवित्र स्थलों में से एक है। इस स्थान पर, हिरण्यवती नदी के पास, गौतम बुद्ध ने मशरूम की एक प्रजाति, या संभवतः सूअर का मांस खाने से बीमार पड़ने के बाद परिनिर्वाण (या ‘अंतिम निर्वाण’) प्राप्त किया।
