In the Diwan-i-Aam or the Hall of Public Audiences of the Red Fort in Delhi, the emperor, seated in a canopied alcove, would hear complaints and pleas of the commoners through a jharokha (balcony). In the Diwan-i-Khas or the Hall of Private Audiences the Emperor held private meetings with courtiers and state guests. At the centre of the chamber, the famous Peacock Throne throne was placed over a marble pedestal. The throne was looted in 1739 by Nadir Shah. The original peacock throne was housed inside the Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience) of Agra Fort form where it was shifted to Delhi. / दिल्ली में लाल किले के दीवान-ए-आम या हॉल ऑफ पब्लिक ऑडियंस में, सम्राट, एक छत्ते में बैठा हुआ, एक झरोखा (बालकनी) के माध्यम से आम लोगों की शिकायतें और दलीलें सुनता था। दीवान-ए-खास या निजी श्रोताओं के हॉल में सम्राट ने दरबारियों और राज्य के मेहमानों के साथ निजी बैठकें कीं। कक्ष के केंद्र में, प्रसिद्ध मयूर सिंहासन सिंहासन को एक संगमरमर के आसन के ऊपर रखा गया था। 1739 में नादिर शाह ने सिंहासन को लूट लिया था। मूल मोर सिंहासन आगरा किले के दीवान-ए-आम (सार्वजनिक श्रोताओं का हॉल) के अंदर रखा गया था जहां इसे दिल्ली में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था।
