If the perimeter of a certain rectangle is 76 and its area is 360 then what is the length of its shortest side? / यदि एक निश्चित आयत की परिधि 76 है और उसका क्षेत्रफल 360 है तो उसकी सबसे छोटी भुजा की लंबाई क्या है?

(A) 12

(B) 18

(C) 20

(D) 36

perimeter / परिमाप  = 2(l+b) = 76

i.e. l+b = 38

now  L=  38 - b  .....eq - 1

Area = l*b = 360

Put value of l in area formula  / क्षेत्र सूत्र में l का मान रखें

(38-b)X b = 360

38b - b^2  = 360

b^2 -38b+360 =0 

(v^2  mens b power 2 ) 

solve equation / समीकरण हल करें 

(b-18) (b-20)=0

there for B = 18 or 20  

The numbers are 18 and 20

Smaller side = 18

Answer: Option B
