,The reagent used to detect sugar (glucose) in the urine is benedict's reagent. Benedict's reagent is a solution of copper sulfate, sodium carbonate and sodium citrate in water. It is a deep-blue alkaline solution used to test for the presence of the aldehyde functional group. When glucose is heated with Benedict's solution, it gives a brick-red precipitate. Since glucose gives a positive test, the solution is used to test for the presence of glucose in urine, a symptom of diabetes.
