The sum of two numbers is 384 and their HCF is 48. What is the difference between the two numbers?

दो संख्याओं का योग 384 है और उनका HCF 48 है। दोनों संख्याओं में क्या अंतर है?

  Answer :- 

Let the numbers be x and y.

Since the HCF is 48 , therefore

48x+ 48y=384

=> 48(x+y)=384

=> x+y = 384/48 = 8

Now ,

Either ,

x+y=7+1

and

48*7+48*1=384

the difference is 48x-48y = 48*7–48=288

or

x+y = 5+3

48*5+48*3=384

and the difference is 48x-48y = 48*5–48*3 = 96.
